Aurel Onut is from a small village in the Apuseni Mountains, region of Transylvania. Onut served a 10-year apprenticeship under Dimitrie Banica a renowned icon painter in Romania, traveling all over refurbishing icons and frescoes. In 1995 after passing a rigorous examination, Onut who is proficient in wood, glass, mosaic, egg tempera, FRESCO, oil and acrylic, was granted a license. After he came in United States, he was completed the inside of a Romanian Orthodox Church in Sacramento, California.
